GeoRSS describes a number of ways to encode location in RSS feeds. As RSS becomes more and more prevalent as a way to publish and share information, it becomes increasingly important that location is described in an interoperable manner so that applications can request, aggregate, share and map geographically tagged feeds.

Acitivity around GeoRSS if fast and voluminous already, so this weblog aims to note interesting developments and communicate the GeoRSS idea to the wider world.

I think one of your GML example does not match the specification:

    lacks the or node.

    Correct:

    45.256 -110.45 46.46 -109.48 43.84 -109.86
    45.8 -109.2 45.256 -110.45

    Thomas

I’m a newbie to GeoRSS but work in the GIS industry. I’m developing a real time GPS tracking (AVL) service for a client using Virtual Earth/Google Earth/Map. Our GPS text string is in the NMEA protocal. Would converting the NMEA string to GeoRSS make sense, or is it even possible. What would be the benefits of serving it in GeoRSS?

My company is releasing a product that converts ESRI, Google, GML, MapInfo and AutoDesk vector data to GeoRss. I would be grateful if you reviewed it. Email me and I will send you a free license.
    Thanks,
    Mike
